The Street Soccer Foundation runs The Street Soccer Academy: a 10-week personal development course for young people, delivered weekly for 10 consecutive weeks at a time.

The course is a fully structured employability-driven programme delivered in partnership with our professional Football Club partners. The Street Soccer Foundation is registered on the UK Register of Learning Providers (UKPRN: 10065113).

Upon graduating the Street Soccer Academy our core aim is to improve the health and well-being of course participants and to improve overall confidence and motivation to want to improve their current situation. More ideally, we aim to help individuals secure at least one of five progressive pathways, and to mentally equip them with the right skills to become an asset to an employer. The 5 pathways are: a) Job; b) Education / Further Training; c) Traineeship; d) Apprenticeship; or e) Voluntary.

We are extremely proud to have initially launched our Street Soccer Academy in 2015 in partnership with Premier League Football Club, West Ham United and the West Ham United Foundation. Helping to support and develop vulnerable young people from within and across the East London Boroughs.

After receiving national acclaim from the likes of The Premier League, PFA, FA, the BBC and ITV, the Street Soccer Academy has since gone on to develop further partnerships with other Football Clubs and is now being delivered into more local communities across the South East of England. Check out our Partners page to see where we are currently providing our Academy courses. Here below is a short clip from our Kent & Medway Street Soccer Academy, being run with Football League side Gillingham FC:

Each Street Soccer Academy course focuses on a layering process with a ‘TEEM’ approach, following the same format:

To start each weekly session, activities are led by our Football Club partner. Selected Participants will:

  • Improve physical and mental health and overall well-being
  • Increase fitness, confidence and enthusiasm for life
  • Be in a safe and positive environment, improve their social skills and hopefully make friends along the way.

Developmental workshop modules are delivered over the 10 weeks with mentoring support offered throughout the duration. During the course, participants will develop vital employability and work-readiness skills such as:

  • Communication, Organisation, Goal-setting, Personal budgets, Team-working, CV-writing, Job  search, Presentation skills, Interview techniques…  and more.

On graduation, our Core Progression Pathways for participants are:

  • a) Job, b) Education / Further Training, c) Traineeship, d) Apprenticeship, and e) Voluntary

PLEASE NOTE: The Street Soccer Foundation operates a Taster Day and Application & Selection Process for its 10-week Academy courses. If you are interested in taking part or would like to recommend or refer someone to us – please contact our friendly team by email:
