On Monday night we united together to take part in the nationally organised ‘Stay at Home Sleepout’ co-ordinated by our good friends at CEO Sleepout UK.

Some 300 participants joined the Street Soccer Foundation and other charities from Northumberland to Portsmouth and everywhere in between to spend one night sleeping out in gardens, yards, decks and even on rooftops(!) to help fight homelessness and poverty across the UK.

TOGETHER, we did it. Together, we have so far raised a phenomenal £44,500! (with monies still coming in!)

Now more than ever, during these incredibly tough times, the homeless are more vulnerable than ever before and really need our help. So, the events of Monday night and the tireless task of raising such a phenomenal amount of money is a huge achievement and we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone that took part.

Keith Mabbutt, CEO, the Street Soccer Foundation said: “The Stay at Home Sleepout on Monday was a wonderful success. It brought together hundreds of supporters of ours and other people to help raise a fantastic sum of money; a community of people who all have an appreciation of what others are going through at this time – showing a true united front to want to make a difference to others’ lives.”

All monies raised by our amazing supporters will be used to provide emergency food and support to people in poverty. Funds are to be funnelled directly through to the trussell trust, which supports a nationwide network of food banks, and who have advised us that for every £100 raised, they can create and provide 2,000 meals! Quite astonishing. You can learn more about the trussell trust here: https://www.trusselltrust.org.

Once again, everyone involved at and within the Street Soccer Foundation would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part. Together, Changing Lives through Football – but on this occasion in particular; together, changing lives through sleeping out!

-End-
