COVID-19 response: Our Continued Support for Young People

** COVID-19 UPDATE **

Having already taken the decision to suspend all School and Community based (physical) delivery activities with immediate effect – now, until further notice – the Street Soccer Foundation remains operational and is continuing to support vulnerable young people in a variety of ways.

Our Core Principles of delivery are:

SERVICE – ACTIVITY – MENTORING – EDUCATION

Service & Mentoring – Telephone-based Mentoring:

We are offering young people an opportunity for a scheduled telephone call with one of our appointed Mentors. Typically, a working professional who has come through our Growth Mindset Mentoring Training programme. If you are a young person – or know a young person we could help – and would like to speak with someone about your current situation and to gain advice and support in general, please feel free to contact us to arrange a call. Please email: academy@streetsoccerfoundation.org.uk

Service – Facebook Chat:

From 25th March we will be running a Facebook Chat session every weekday, initially between the hours 2pm-4pm for all young people aged 18-25, male and female, nationwide.

Young people will be able to log on and talk to us through text to ask or share with us anything and we will endeavour to listen, advise and signpost as necessary to support individuals. Please search for ‘The Street Soccer Foundation’ page on Facebook.

Education – Twitter Podcasts:

From today (Tuesday 24th March) we launched our ‘Street Soccer Utd’ Twitter daily Podcasts – with the aim of interviewing professional sportspeople, business leaders and social influencers. Each podcast interview will give a quick-fire Q&A to help inspire you, to make you smile, give you education and help you make the most of your day each day. Please find us on Twitter here: @StreetSoccerCIC.

Service & Education – Video Messages/Tutorials:

We have an array of videos that offer positive and supportive messages from sportspeople and business leaders on the following Key Academy Learnings such as:

  • Your Mindset & Taking Action;
  • Attitude & Mindset: Fixed, Growth and Benefit;
  • Confidence, Motivation & Visualisation;
  • Self-Discipline, Your Behaviour & Squashing Limiting Beliefs; and
  • Building Resilience

As well as more employability-linked advice and tutorials on:

  • Communication / Organisation / Team-Working / Goal setting / Money Mindset / Time Management / CV-Writing / Job Search / Interviews

If you would like to be sent videos on any of these topics referenced above, please email us to:academy@streetsoccerfoundation.org.uk.

Activity – #StayAtHomeChallenge:

For a bit of FUN: you can film yourself at home or in the garden juggling a toilet roll and then do a trick or score a goal of some kind, before nominating 3 people to have a go too.

We are linking up with ‘433’ – an online platform with an IG audience of 26.8m. If you record yourself taking part in the challenge; feel free to then upload your video to your social media (Twitter / Facebook / Insta) making sure you tag us [the Street Soccer Foundation] and use the hashtags: #StayAtHomeChallenge and #StreetSoccerUtd.

We intend to like, RT, and share all efforts submitted. And we will submit your appropriately tagged effort to the team at 433 in the hope they promote it too. All in the name of fun. And to potentially help you become a social hit!

Please keep safe and well. Together, we are Street Soccer United.
