Industry United: A Big New Initiative
Staff working in the ICT industry will come together to play in a national football tournament series to raise money for the Street Soccer Foundation.
ICT Industry
The Big Goal initiative will see ICT resellers from across the country take part in regional five-a-side tournaments at Premier League and English Football League venues nationwide, before a finals day takes place at The Home of England Football, St George’s Park, next Summer.
Each team that enters the tournament will become a sponsor for one of our flagship Street Soccer Academies in their area through paying the tournament entry fee.
The sponsorship will cover academy places for 10 vulnerable or disadvantaged 18 to 30-year olds, who take part in football coaching, mentoring and skills and employability workshops through our 10-week programme, which is run in partnership with football club community organisations across the country.
After completing the course, the sponsors can then offer the participants, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, opportunities to gain further experience at their company.
I’m incredibly thankful to Giacom and super excited by The Big Goal, which aims to be a true catalyst for positive social change by allowing ICT companies to play a big part in collectively making a tangible difference to the lives of others.
Keith Mabbutt - CEO The Street Soccer Foundation
Giacom is the headline sponsor of The Big Goal and Comms Dealer is the initiative’s media partner.
I love our industry and I have long believed there is a time when we should unite on a common goal - where we can make a substantially bigger difference if we do it together. That’s what The Big Goal is all about.
Terry O'Brien - CEO Giacom
Nigel Sergent, Editorial Director for Comms Dealer, urged people working in the ICT reseller sector to sign up to take part, ahead of the initiative’s launch event at St George’s Park on 4th October.
We expect The Big Goal will attract a lot of interest and spaces at the launch at St George’s Park will be limited, so register without delay.
