National Football Tournament for Academy Participants
The Street Soccer Academy National Cup celebrates the achievements of 18 to 30-year olds who have successfully completed the Street Soccer Academy programme, which aims to help tackle youth homelessness and unemployment in England.
Academy participants often include those currently experiencing homelessness, former young offenders, the long-term unemployed or those who are not in education, employment or training.
May 25th
At the tournament on May 25, players will represent the clubs that hosted their academy programmes, including Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sunderland, West Ham United, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Salford City.
Our flagship academy programme provides participants with opportunities to learn new skills and improve their health and well-being through a mixture of football coaching, positive mindset training, mentoring support and workshops centred around personal development and skills and employability.
The Academy National Cup is a five-a-side tournament which rewards the commitment shown by the young people who complete the course and provides an incentive for them to work hard so the coaches select them to represent their academy club in a team at the event.
The Street Soccer Academy National Cup is a wonderful centrepiece event that serves as a platform to inspire and empower young people and provides the unique chance for programme participants to meet others who have been through the same academy programme. The event creates lifelong memories for all those involved by playing at the Home of England Football, representing a time when they firmly believed in themselves and had gained new skills, friendships, and confidence through taking part. Ultimately, for all those attending the event, it’s also about the chance to be crowned the National Academy Cup winners!
