House of Lords
We are delighted to announce the tremendous success of our recent The Big Goal – Leaders Reception event, held last week at the prestigious House of Lords in London. The event brought together the senior leadership team, key stakeholders, founding ICT members, and inspiring young speakers in a celebration of our shared mission: changing lives through football to help vulnerable young people with a view to ending youth homelessness.
Football for the team at the Street Soccer Foundation – and for the vast majority of the young people supported through the Street Soccer Academy – is much more than just a game – it’s a lifeline. It gives young people a sense of community, structure, and purpose and shows them that they matter, that people care about them.
Launched officially in January this year – ‘The Big Goal’ campaign has successfully brought on 34 organisations across the ICT sector, each becoming nationally recognised as ‘Founding Members’ – united through a passion to help others.
44 Academies supporting 462 young people
This Founding Membership has allowed the Street Soccer Foundation to deliver an initial total of 44 Street Soccer Academies through club community organisation partnerships nationwide, seeing the charity be able to collectively support 462 young people throughout the country.
Every Academy sponsored is a sponsorship of an average of 10 young lives that are positively transformed. 10 futures rebuilt. 10 young individuals where they’re not just giving these young people a chance to play football – but the programme gives them a sense of hope, and the prospects of a job and a home of their own.
The overarching mission of The Big Goal is to provide a brighter future for thousands of young people and to ultimately help end youth homelessness. Members of The Big Goal are committed to helping to achieve such.
