The UK’s first five-a-side football leagues where 100% of the weekly match fees are invested directly into the local community are being launched today by the Street Soccer Foundation.
Football for Good
Following The Commonwealth-supported inaugural Football For Good Day on 19 November 2023, the new Football For Good Leagues are being run in partnership with football club community organisations across the country.
Each new Football For Good League established will see 100% of players’ contributions being donated to create more opportunities for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in the local area, including sponsored places on our flagship Street Soccer Academies and other community programmes run by the participating clubs’ charity foundations.
The nationally acclaimed Street Soccer Academy is a ten-week personal development programme for 18 to 30-year-olds, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and uses football as a catalyst to engage participants in employability workshops, mentoring, football training and positive mindset coaching.
Club Partnerships
The first official Football For Good Leagues, which will begin in the next few weeks and are now open to team bookings, will launch in partnership with Hull City, Northampton Town, Sutton United, Wycombe Wanderers and Barnsley – with funds raised being invested into projects in these local areas.
Our Football For Good Leagues are set to revolutionise the way we play the beautiful game, as it won’t be just about the winning team, but about creating leagues that have a social heartbeat - where every goal scored contributes to positive change in the players’ local community. Football has an incredible power to unite people and communities and our Football For Good Leagues will harness this power to address social challenges, helping local individuals and communities on a national and international scale. Our leagues will provide an opportunity for players to socialise, stay fit and healthy, challenge themselves and network - all the while knowing they are supporting the next generation in their local area to have a more positive future. We’re now calling on people to gather their friends, colleagues or fellow football enthusiasts to form a squad that plays not just for victory on the field but for positive social change off it.

League matches will take place at venues in the local area of each partnering football club community organisation at set times each week and it will cost each five-a-side team £35 per match.
